TENA ProSkin Stretch: Designed for Independence

For many people living with incontinence, the toughest part isn’t always the leaks, but losing the freedom to manage day-to-day life on your own.

As our bodies change, simple things like getting dressed, using the bathroom, or changing a product can become extremely complicated. Especially if our mobility, balance, or dexterity isn’t what it used to be.

While there are countless products on the market for managing incontinence, they don’t all cater for those facing these additional obstacles.

Traditional pull-up incontinence pants can be hard to handle if bending down is difficult. Meanwhile, traditional slips often mean asking for help, especially for the elderly or those with limited mobility.

This leads to many people feeling stuck choosing products that sufficiently protect them, but quietly chip away at their independence and confidence.

Why Independence Matters For Those Experiencing Incontinence

Incontinence, like many other medical conditions, can have a massive impact on our mental health and quality of life. Without the right support, be that products or experts, it quickly becomes something that seems impossible to manage.

But, it doesn’t have to be this way.

Many older adults say one of their biggest fears is becoming a “burden” on their loved ones or society. When essentials such as incontinence products are hard to manage, that fear can quickly become a daily reality.

The Problem With Existing Products

For those facing moderate to heavy incontinence, incontinence protection has largely fallen into two categories:

  • Pants: familiar and discreet, but difficult to use if flexibility or dexterity is reduced.
  • Slips: highly absorbent, but for those with limited mobility, they often require the help of a carer to fit and remove.

While these products remain a good fit for most, they aren’t always suitable for the elderly or impaired. In fact, they can become a real hindrance to those with:

  • Lower mobility, balance struggles, and people who have difficulty standing unsupported.
  • Challenges with hand dexterity and/or motor skills.
  • Lower flexibility (unable to bend down and pull pants/underwear over ankles).

Introducing TENA ProSkin Stretch

TENA ProSkin Stretch was uniquely designed to fill this gap. Bridging the gap between an incontinence pant and a slip, they combine the best of both forms of protection while mitigating their most common setbacks.

Rather than needing to be pulled up from the ankles like a pant, they can be affixed around the leg whilst sitting down, then pulled up into place from a more comfortable position.

With wide, reclosable tabs and soft, stretchy sides, they’re easy to grip, adjust, and fasten, even for those with limited dexterity.

Once on, they can be pulled up and down like underwear, supporting independent trips to the toilet and reducing the need for assistance.

In studies, 95% of users said TENA Stretch reduced their need for help, while 71% of carers rated Stretch the easiest product to fit compared to pants or slips.

On average, carers also found changes were 24% quicker with Stretch than with traditional slips.

This means TENA Stretch isn’t just designed for the wearer seeking a better solution, it’s designed for carers too. By serving both, it restores dignity and independence where possible, and when care is needed, it makes the process faster, simpler, and less intrusive.

Day and Night Confidence

Because incontinence needs differ from person to person, and even depending on the time of day, TENA ProSkin Stretch comes in two versions to suit different routines:

  • Stretch Day: with a wider DaySecureZone™ for quick absorption and double anti-leakage barriers for protection while moving.
  • Stretch Night: with 30% more absorbency at the back, giving much needed, targeted protection while lying down.

Both versions feature TENA’s FeelDry™ Advanced Technology to keep skin dry, ConfioAir™ breathable sides for comfort, and triple protection against leaks, odour, and moisture.

The Proof Is In The Polls

None of this matters unless it truly makes a difference, though. So, how does it truly restore independence to those experiencing incontinence?

During recent studies and consumer testing, carers and people experiencing incontinence were able to try the product first-hand. The results show just how much difference the right design can make.

Halmstad University Usability Study (2024) compared Stretch with Pants and Slips on ease of use, comfort, and time to change. The findings showed that:

  • 71% of carers chose Stretch as the easiest product to put on (compared to 25% for Pants and just 4% for Slips).
  • On average, carers found Stretch 24% faster to change than Slips, and 20% faster than Pants.
  • In 6 out of 8 aspects tested, Stretch was ranked the most user-friendly.
  • Most importantly, 95% of users said Stretch reduced their need for assistance, a vital step towards restoring independence.

Consumer studies in Poland and Germany (2020 & 2022) also backed this up:

  • 93% agreed Stretch helped their loved one take a more active role during product changes.
  • 98% said it gave a feeling of total security.
  • 99% found it easier for carers to change than their current product.
  • 95% said it kept them protected for longer, while 97% reported drier skin.
